Crossroads - Caring for Carers

About Us

Fact…

In Liverpool alone, there are estimated to be more than 80,000 Carers providing support to an adult with health problems or physical and learning difficulties.

Crossroads Caring for Carers - what we do.

Crossroads Caring for Carers exists to relieve the physical and emotional stresses which can affect Carers - both young people and adults - who care for others affected by disability, age or illness, including mental ill health and learning disabilities.

We provide a wide range of help and practical support through a network of dedicated and fully trained community-based Care Support Workers.

We meet the individual needs of Carers and the people they look after, taking full account of the needs of the whole family.

Crossroads - our history.

The Crossroads Caring for Carers Association has been operating for over 30 years and has 175 member schemes across England and Wales.

The first Merseyside scheme launched in Sefton in 1991, with Liverpool Crossroads Caring for Carers being set up in 1992. Liverpool Crossroads Caring for Carers Company Limited by Guarantee was registered 17th March 1997. The two combined in 2005 as Crossroads Caring for Carers (Liverpool and Sefton).

Since April 2006 Crossroads Caring for Carers in Warrington has merged with Liverpool & Sefton to create one merged scheme covering Liverpool, Sefton & Warrington Council boundaries.

In total, there are now more than 60 Carer Support Workers, supported by a management team of 12 plus volunteers delivering 5,000 hours of carer support each month to more than 200 families and individuals across Liverpool, Sefton and Warrington.
